PRECISION MANUFACTURING / SECTOR 01

Build a little order.

Extract shapes, process them, and route them into the central hub. Buildings are free; the challenge is the flow.

Belt planning: Select Belt, click a start tile, then move your mouse to preview an automatic route around machines. Click to pin waypoints. Tab changes the preferred bend; Q / R sets the final output direction. Press Enter or Build to place the whole route, or Escape / Cancel to discard it. Hover an existing machine and press Q / R to rotate it.

Start here: A circle miner and a belt line are already running west of the hub. Complete the first contract, then extract squares from the southern deposit.

Miner: place on neutral, shape-labeled quarry tiles for raw shapes, or colored PAINT wells for paint. Shape deposits do not indicate paint colors. Belts: hold two items per tile, with half-tile spacing. Connect outputs to inputs; arrows set travel direction. Cutter: splits shapes into right and left halves. The right half exits forward; the left half exits on the machine’s right side. Each output waits independently if its belt is blocked. Rotator: turns shapes clockwise. Painter: requires a shape from behind and a paint packet of any color from either side. Each painted shape consumes one packet. Mine paint deposits with miners and carry paint on belts. The incoming paint determines the color automatically. The deposit dropdown only helps locate paint sources. Use “Find selected paint deposit” to locate a source. Stacker: accepts one shape from behind and one from either side, stacking side input above the rear input. Assembler (A): combines nonoverlapping pieces from rear and side inputs into the same layer. A whole layer may be one solid color. When different pieces are assembled into the same layer, those pieces must have different colors; one piece may cover several quadrants. Adjacent layers cannot share a color. Stacked tasks start with whole solid-color shapes, then introduce halves, extra layers, and finally assembled layers. Upgrades: optional subtasks unlock permanent speed increases. Mixer (M): feed paint from behind and either side; consumes one packet of each to make one mixed packet forward. Red + green = yellow, red + blue = purple, green + blue = cyan. Yellow + blue, purple + green, or cyan + red = white. Feed mixtures into another mixer for white. Storage (S): holds up to 100 items, accepts from behind and releases forward in arrival order. Bridge (B): two independent belt lanes cross; one passes over the other without merging. Lane directions follow adjacent belts automatically; H reverses the crossing lane. Each lane holds two items. Rotate to choose travel directions. Trash: deletes incoming items. Tunnel (9): click an entrance, then an exit 2–8 tiles ahead in its facing direction. Items and paint pass underneath intervening buildings. Click an existing entrance to reconnect it. Splitter (0): accepts items from behind and alternates front and right outputs, using the available route when one is blocked.

Machines output in their arrow direction. The hub accepts deliveries at any of its nine tiles. New contracts require more elaborate shapes. Your factory autosaves locally. All menus can be dragged by their title bars and collapsed with −; + expands them again. Collapsed dialogs release the map. Settings → Reset menu positions, or Alt+0, restores the default layout. Workshop controls: V selects an area; Ctrl+C copies, Ctrl+V pastes, Ctrl+X previews a move, and Delete removes selection. Ctrl+Z undoes layout edits and Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes them. Layout history preserves current production progress and does not restore erased cargo. I inspects a machine, O toggles diagnostics, and Factory opens statistics, contract layers, blueprints, save slots, and bookmarks. The minimap is clickable. Click an already selected tool to deselect it, then left-drag to explore. The placement rotation button changes the facing of your next building. Flip layout (H) mirrors painters, stackers, splitters, mixers, and bridges. Hover an existing machine and press H to flip it. Bridges infer directions from neighboring belts; flipping reverses the crossing lane. Desktop mouse and keyboard recommended.

Factory upgrades

Complete subtasks during normal production, then claim +25% speed per level. Each upgrade applies to every building of that type. Five levels per upgrade.
